In the course of his distinguished academic and research career Colin Ward (1945-2018) developed a range of teaching and research programs in coal geology. He mentored many students and has successfully supervised more than 20 postgraduate research student projects, leading to M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees. Professor Ward was an author of several benchmark textbooks and numerous papers, particularly in the fields of coal geology and mineral matter in coal. The Colin Ward Emerging Student Researcher Award was established by TSOP in 2020 and is funded by Kathie Ward (Colin's wife). |
