Entertainment and Social Activities

There will be ample opportunity to visit the downtown Washington, D.C. area via metro during the meeting, on informal trips of your choosing. Initially, one trip will be guided from the Hyatt Arlington to the National Mall on Sunday morning in order to orient visitors on using the metro and on current exhibits of interest. Details will be available at registration. Cost: price of the metro ticket and other out-of-pocket expenses.

We are also trying to find activities that conference members can go and enjoy their free time easily and cheaply.

There are several tour companies that work the Metro area and there are even some that give tours up and down the Potomac River. The Potomac River runs between Virginia and Washington, D.C. and passes right near the Conference hotel. One tour even starts from Georgetown, which is a short walk across the river from the Hyatt.

From the tour company website - Potomac Riverboat Company

Potomac River Boat Company (PRC) is a small, private company which offers sightseeing tours and private charters aboard its four vessels. Homeport for all the boats is Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, however, select boats are able to dock in Georgetown (Washington, DC) and Mount Vernon.

All four boats are available exclusively for private charter. For information on hosting your own private party such as a wedding, corporate function, rehersal dinner or barmitzvah call (703) 684-0580.

Three boats offer sightseeing tours featuring George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens, Georgetown, Old Town Alexandria, and Washington's majestic monuments. The tour season runs April through October. For a sailing schedule, call (703) 548-9000.
