Special invitation to students: TSOP strongly encourages student involvement in the Society especially through active participation at our annual technical meetings. Over the past 27 conferences many students have presented talks and/or posters. Each year TSOP presents a cash award for the best student paper and the best student poster. Reduced registration fees: Registration fees for the meeting are significantly reduced or even waived. The registartion fees have not been set at this time. Please check back soon. Travel grants: TSOP also encourages student participation through support for travel to the meetings. Funding is limited to a partial funding of the travel expenses. The amount and number of grants partially depend on the amount of financial support raised for the conference so they vary from year to year. Students must apply for the assistance and a committee will decide on the bases of merit and need. New: We are pleased to announce the TSOP Student Travel Grants for qualifying students to assist them in attending this year's TSOP Halifax 2011 Meeting. There are a limited number of grants available and students must apply for the grant. A panel of three TSOP volunteers will review and rate the requests. Selection will be based on a combination of quality of research/presentation and potential impact in the field of organic petrology. The maximum grant is 500USD and this along with significantly reduced registration fees should help students who want to participate in the Halifax Meeting. See attached notice for more specific details. Note: Please pass this notice on to any students and/or universities who might have interested students. For more specific details on making your application see TSOP Student Travel Award (pdf file). |
